Elite Cranes, one of the UK’s leading crane manufacturers, adopted CheckedOK from CoreRFID to manage its inspection reporting, repairs and maintenance, part of a wider move to become a paperless operation and support its growth plans.
Elite Cranes, based in St Helens with a second site in County Durham, specialises in overhead and gantry cranes and can handle the largest projects. Lee Roby and his father John, both with previous experience in the crane industry, founded the company in 2016.

Inspection software for growing businesses supports expansion plans
Lee says a key benefit of moving to a digital system is letting engineers carrying out repairs and inspections on site capture data on iPads, which automatically updates the asset’s history and produces reports.
The move formed part of a broader growth plan. Elite Cranes has since expanded its team and now manufactures a full range of lifting equipment directly, including overhead cranes, lightweight cranes, jib cranes, lifting beams and vacuum lifters, alongside its original inspection and repair services.
“We have big plans for the future. The additional staff will give us increased capacity to carry out more work on site and we are also looking to expand our operations and offer a contract manufacturing service for other crane companies.
Ultimately we aim to be a leading force in the industry. We want to manage growth carefully to ensure we maintain the same high standards. Investing in technology will help us achieve that, by improving efficiency, particularly in an era of rising prices, and giving us better control over the business.”
